A Belleville man is facing charges in a domestic assault investigation and police say more charges are likely after the discovery of weapons.
Saturday night, police were called about an incident in Thurlow in which a female had been assaulted and was not allowed to leave the residence.
Police learned the male involved allegedly had access to firearms and had brandished and fired a firearm in a previous incident.
The male, who was believed to be under the influence of drugs at the time, was located outside the residence and placed under arrest after a brief struggle.
The 41-year-old man was charged with domestic assault, utter threats, resist arrest, and careless discharge of a firearm and held for a bail hearing.
Sunday evening, Belleville police executed a search warrant on a trailer belonging to the male where they located a sawed-off shotgun and several air soft guns.
The investigation is continuing, and further charges are expected.
The name of the accused is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
