A somewhat fluky goal midway in the third period proved to be the difference as the Belleville Senators suffered a 3-2 loss in Lehigh Valley Wednesday night.
The Phantoms scored the winner off a slapshot that deflected multiple times before going in off a Belleville defender.
It was one of just three shots on goal Lehigh Valley had on B-Sens goaltender Michael Simpson in the final frame as Belleville outshot the Phantoms 26-20.
Wyatt Bongiovanni stayed hot for Belleville scoring his seventh goal in the last four games. Jan Jenik added his fifth.
The B-Sens have the day off to reset in time to to play the two-time defending Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears Friday night.
