The founder of Storehouse Food Bank in Prince Edward County has been recognized by the municipal government for her service to the community.
During their first session of 2025 on Tuesday, council presented Linda Downey with a Civic Recognition Certificate for her work with the food bank.
After receiving her award, Downey said that she hopes that she can inspire others to volunteer and help in their communities.
“I always loved what I did, because to me it was helping others,” said Downey. “You don’t have a better feeling in the world and better joy than knowing that you made a difference to others, and the relief that you saw in people’s faces after you helped them.”
Downey founded the Storehouse Food Bank in 2007.
