The Salvation Army’s annual kettle campaign officially ends this Friday and the organization is very close to its goal.
Richard Smith tells Quinte News a few weeks ago they were extremely worried about reaching their $365,000 goal because of the Canada Post strike.
About two-thirds of their donations usually come via the mail campaign.
“As of today, we’re at $353,000 and we saved $10,000 on our mail campaign because we never sent our letters out so if we were to consider that $10,000 we’re actually at $363,000.”
Smith says they can’t thank the community enough for supporting the organization once again.
Kettle Campaign donations fund multiple local Salvation Army programs including their dinner programs which feed 1,200 people a week.
Donations are still being accepted via their website.
