Officers from the Peterborough County OPP have charged an individual with impaired driving after stopping at a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program.
On January 11, 2025 shortly after 11 p.m., Peterborough County OPP Officers were conducting a RIDE program on County Road 4 in Douro-Dummer Township.
A vehicle entered the RIDE program and an officer spoke with the driver.
After a brief conversation with the driver, the officer determined they were under the influence of alcohol.
The officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device.
The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a fail, at which point they were arrested.
Olivia Stewart, age 22 of Douro-Dummer Township, was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while impaired
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Novice Driver – BAC above zero
· Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
· Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt
The accused had her driver’s licence suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on February 18, 2025.
