United Way Hastings Prince Edward got a major financial boost on Thursday afternoon.
Procter and Gamble Belleville announced a donation of $170,000 towards the 2024-25 fundraising campaign.
Kristen Sokolowski is the site H.R. leader with P&G Belleville.
“It’s a huge thing for us to be able to continue to support the community. P&G continues to want to partner with the employees to best be able to support the community. For us it’s an amazing thing to be able to present a cheque this big.”
Sokolowski says out of their 1,000 employees, almost every one of them supports the United Way in one form or another.
“Our payroll deduction campaign is our biggest lever to be able to support the United Way. For every dollar that an employee donates, P&G matches dollar for dollar. Parking spots in the parking lot that we raffle off. We have family day every other year. We have a dunk tank. Always looking for more ways.”
Brandi Hodge is the executive director of the United Way HPE.
“We’re thrilled because $170,000 … Procter and Gamble remains our largest workplace supporter. They do that because they have a group of employees who believe in the community that they live in and they work in.”
About 40,000 residents in Hastings and Prince Edward County use the services of a United Way member agency.
United Way supports 46 community agencies in the region.
