Traffic stop leads to charges
On January 7, 2025 at 6:42 p.m., an officer conducted a vehicle stop in the city’s east end after an Automatic Licence Plate Recognition hit showed a suspended driver attached to a vehicle. A 2019 Nissan was stopped after the licence plate information revealed the registered owner was suspended for unpaid fines. During the investigation, the officer also discovered that there was no valid insurance on the vehicle. As a result, a 32-year-old Brighton man was charged with drive under suspension and drive motor vehicle with no insurance. The driver was issued a summons for Provincial Offences court in February.
