Christmas is looking a lot merrier for Belleville’s Salvation Army and those the organization supports.
Salvation Army’s Richard Smith tells Quinte News, as of Tuesday, $315,000 has been raised and more money is still coming in via online donations and the mail.
The goal for this year’s Kettle Campaign is $365,000 and Smith says they are now optimistic that they can reach that target or come very close.
Just a couple of weeks ago, officials were very concerned about reaching their goal due to the Canada Post strike.
Smith says the the mail campaign generally brings in about two-thirds of their donations.
Kettle Campaign donations fund multiple local Salvation Army programs including their dinner programs which feed 1,200 people a week.
