There was a lot of change in Marmora and Lake in 2024 especially regarding some of the township’s top staff.
Mayor Jan O’Neill says they went through some staff reorganization resulting in a new Chief Administrative Officer in John Connolly and Manager of Parks, Recreation and Facilities, Jeff Young.
Several capital projects were also completed this year.
“We did upgrades to Booster Park, I believe in the electrical. We reconstructed Centre Line Road and Jennison and Skene Road in the north. We paved parking lots at the Town Hall and the arena.”
Construction on a new sand dome at the public works yard was also completed.
O’Neill says she is also extremely proud of the spirit in her community.
People continue to turn out to local events.
“It’s just amazing. We had probably the best Canada Day parade and the best Christmas parade that we’ve ever had. And we can’t take credit for that at the town particularly, it’s our Lion’s Club that have made those things a real success.”
O’Neill also commended the work done by staff at the Public Library noting that they have an active program of community oriented activities.
She adds they also welcomed several new businesses to Marmora and Lake this year.
Most were entrepreneurial-based but there were a couple of new storefronts as well.
