Quinte News continues to look back on 2024 by speaking with key figures across the Quinte and Northumberland regions.
Speaking with Quinte News, Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini highlighted some of the investments made in the riding.
He spoke of significant funding towards Campbellford Memorial Hospital.
Piccini also spoke on infrastructure work in the region.
“We want a rural Ontario where you can live, work and raise a family,” Piccini tells Quinte News.
“So the opening of the new arena in Campbellford, the new rec center, home of the Trent Hills Thunder, investments in Brighton. You think of the King Edward Park Arena, the roof repairs there with pickleball courts and now some of the new small businesses, fully accessible area. They’re really revitalizing that space.”
MPP Piccini also serves in Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s cabinet as the Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
He says he’s proud of some of the local investment in trades programs.
“Investments in things like Edge Factor and Junior Achievement locally,” Piccini said.
“Supporting youth getting better training, better jobs with bigger paychecks, helping PSW and nurse training locally in our own communities and launching new trades courses at Loyalist in Belleville. So really proud of the local investments we’ve made.”
