Port Hope OPP have issued a string of charges after a vehicle fire incident.
On Monday, at approximately 9:25 a.m., officers and fire responded to reports of a vehicle on fire in the area of 4th line.
No one was injured due to the fire.
After an investigation, it was determined that the vehicle was lit on fire deliberately and as a result, one person nearby was arrested and taken to a nearby detachment.
While in custody at the detachment, the suspect damaged property in the cell area.
A 47-year-old from Port Hope has been charged with two counts of arson and mischief over $5000, damaging property, dangerous operation, driving while under suspension, and assault.
The accused has been held, pending an appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg. Their name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
