The Belleville Bulldogs Rugby Club has been named the Junior Female Club Program of the Year by Rugby Ontario.
The Belleville Girls Rugby Program has seen remarkable growth and success while developing young female rugby players. The club had 55 girls in the Under 18 program, 103 in the U16 group and 54 in the Under 14 division.
Several Bulldogs have attended Rugby Canada’s Under 18 girls camp in Kingston as well as competing for the Under 20 Women’s National team.
In a press release from the Belleville Bulldogs they say, “The club also saw strong representation in elite regional programs, with players competing for the Toronto Reds and the EORU 15s branch teams. The U16 Girls program fielded three competitive teams, with one in the TRU Central Division and two in the TRU East Division. Additionally, the U14 Girls consistently participated with multiple teams at festivals, and the club extended its commitment to community by lending players to support Cobourg’s teams.
With a focus on growth, inclusion, and providing development opportunities, Belleville has produced four players who have represented Canada at the senior women’s level over the past decade. The club’s success in fostering talent at every level, from grassroots to the senior ranks, highlights its significant contribution to the future of women’s rugby in Canada.”
