Prince Edward County council will begin a week’s worth of work to come up with its 2025 budget Monday.
After an overview, council will begin with its capital budget which staff is bringing in at $65.1 million.
Almost $56 million of that is for roadwork with $44 million being set aside for the rehabilitation of County Road 49.
The capital budget will not affect residents’ taxes.
Meanwhile, staff is proposing an operating budget with a 4.2 per cent tax increase. If passed as presented, that increase would translate to about $150 more on a residential property worth $300,000 or almost $300 more on a home assessed at $600,000.
