The Quinte West Warming Centre will open nightly for the winter on Sunday, Dec. 1, through the end of March 2025.
The overnight warming centre, located at Trenton United Church, 85 Dundas St. E, offers a safe space for community members to stay warm during the winter months.
The centre will be open nightly from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. from December 1 until March 31.
“Hastings County and our community partners remain vital in supporting our most vulnerable
residents,” said Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “This year, we remain committed to keeping
the warming centre opening nightly, ensuring those in need have access to shelter and support
during the coldest months of the year.”“Warming centres provide critical support to individuals experiencing homelessness by providing
a warm, safe and accessible place for people to take shelter from the cold and inclement
weather. Hastings County is thankful for the partnership established with the City of Quinte West
that will see the operation of a warming centre in the city again this year. We are pleased that
the partnerships, to provide needed supports and services through key organizations dedicated
to supporting vulnerable individuals, exist and make this service so successful,” stated Warden
Bob Mullin.
This is the fourth year the overnight warming centre has been operational in Quinte West. The centre is a space for individuals to seek relief from the cold.
