Smith, Helen Lorraine (nee Tompkins) …. passed away peacefully at The Bridge Hospice on November 23, 2024 at the age of 93 years. Beloved wife of the late Ronald Smith. Loving mother to Daniel (Kim) Smith and the late Lee Smith. Cherished grandmother of Aaron Smith, Leslie (Elvis), Derek (Holly) Ellicott. Cherished great grandmother of Michael. Loving sister to the late Jean Otter, Shirley Otter and Marion Malynyk. Helen will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews and extended family. Helen is predeceased by her parents Roland and Jennie Tompkins.
Helen will be fondly remembered for her deep devotion to family, love of baking and cooking tasty delights, knitting her many creative sweaters, mitts and blankets and most of all having fun telling her stories with some new words she invented. Christmas was her most magical favourite time of year as she took great pleasure in giving!
Helen had much pride in her heritage and Indian Status with the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte. Helen’s humour and big “tell it like it is” presence will be sorely missed by her family and many friends. She was a force you could not ignore nor forget!
Big Thanks to our awesome Dr. Kelly Parks and her staff along with the many caring and fun staff at Island Park and Campbellford Hospital, last but not least the devoted, compassionate volunteers and staff at the Bridge Hospice in Warkworth.
Respecting Helen’s wishes, cremation will take place with a private interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Campbellford. If desired, donations to The Bridge Hospice in Warkworth would be appreciated by the family. Online guest book, memories and condolences may be shared at www.weaverfuneralhomes.com.
