Belleville council will see proposed rate increases for water/sewer services at its meeting Monday (November 25).
Staff will present an updated 10-year financial plan showing water rates increasing by 1.47 per cent each year from 2025 to 2034 and the sewer surcharge increasing by 5.83 per cent each year.
Staff say the higher sewer rate is needed to pay for major infrastructure upgrades such as the treatment plant’s rehabilitation and main relining.
The plan shows residential water/sewer bills increasing by just under six per cent next year, translating to about $7.50 a month for the average user.
