Development charges in Stirling-Rawdon will go up dramatically soon.
Monday council approved a new development charge by-law that will be in effect for the next 5 years.
The charges which developers pay for increased municipal services and facilities made necessary by their developments will go up 169 percent to over $33,000 on a single family home in the village from the previous $12,000.
However builders can receive discounts or have the charges waived for certain types of projects, such as affordable housing.
Stirling-Rawdon is expected to grow by 1,100 people over the next 10 years bringing its population to 5,246.
