Northumberland OPP have arrested and charged an impaired driver after a report from a member of the public.
Police responded to a complaint of an individual “causing a commotion” in a vehicle in the area of Massey Road and Clouston Road in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand at around 8:30 p.m on Friday.
A vehicle matching the description was stopped by police on Burns Road.
Officers entered into an impaired operation investigation and used an Approved Screening Device.
With the result, the accused was arrested and transported to a police station for further tests.
25-year-old Maranda Lee of Cobourg was charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Driver fail to surrender licence
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
- Fail to surrender insurance card
In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
