(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County OPP have charged an individual with impaired driving after stopping at a RIDE program.
On November 18, 2024, just prior to 12:30 a.m., Peterborough County OPP Officers were conducting a RIDE program at County Road 4 and Television Road. A vehicle entered the RIDE program and an officer spoke with the driver. After a brief conversation with the driver, the officer determined he was under the influence of alcohol. The officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of his breath resulting in a fail at which point they were arrested.
Abdul Malik (age 48) of Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, ON., was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused had his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on December 17, 2024.
