Prince Edward County is looking at new office space for incoming doctors.
During Thursday’s committee of the whole meeting, the committee approved a motion to look for land close to the new Picton Memorial Hospital that could be rezoned and converted into medical office space for doctors.
In a report to council, staff identified that office space close to a hospital is a major draw to physicians, and helps in both recruitment and retention.
In the same motion, the physician recruitment program was slightly altered, making it official policy not to solicit physicians already practising in other communities.
The motion was approved and sent on to council for final approval.
