Prince Edward County is looking at making some changes to the community grants program
During Thursday’s committee of the whole meeting, councillors reviewed a staff report on the program, and the recommended changes.
Several changes to the program were put forward, including limiting grants to a maximum of $15,000 in funding, or up to $2000 for in-kind support. The new policy also includes an option for multi-year cash grants, and revises eligibility criteria so that organizations that have operated for less than a year are ineligible for funding.
Several larger contributions were also added, through exceptional funding partnerships, since they would be above the normal maximum contribution. These include $90,000 for TheROC Youth Services, $50,000 for the County Foundation PEC Arts Fund, and $27,390 for Community Care for Seniors.
The committee voted to approve the new policy which will go before council for final approval at a future meeting.
