After a devastating scam cost a local resident $2000 for fake Taylor Swift tickets, another local resident stepped up to reimburse the family who lost out.
Charlene was searching for Taylor Swift tickets for her daughter and grandchildren. Her daughter had recently been diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma, and was hoping for the chance to take her children to see Swift in concert.
After the tickets sold out, Charlene took to Facebook to hunt for seats, where she spent nearly $2000 on tickets only to realize it was a scam, and that she would not receive the tickets she had paid for.
Charlene previously shared her story on 800 CJBQ’s Lorne Brooker show, and one listener decided to take action after hearing the story. The listener anonymously left $2500 in cash at the CJBQ studio, addressed to Charlene. Charlene was invited back to the studio to claim the donated funds.
Charlene struggled to find the words to thank the anonymous donor, as she spoke on the Lorne Brooker show on Thursday.
“I don’t even have the right words to thank thank this lady, you you have just helped so much,” said Charlene. “Our family is so grateful. You have helped take a big weight off of our shoulders. You are truly a special person, and it’s so good to know that there are really good, caring people in this community. Thank you.”
While a personal message to Charlene was included with the funds, no name or means of reaching the donor was provided.
