The City of Belleville has surpassed its housing construction start target for this year.
Ontario’s housing tracker shows that so far foundations have been completed for 259 residential units.
Belleville’s target was 258 and it ranks third among the 50 municipalities that have housing goals.
In first place is North Bay at 246 per cent of its target.
Meanwhile, meeting its goal means Belleville will be in line for provincial government funding.
In 2023 Belleville exceeded its goal by 50 units and received $1.24 million from the province.
