The warming centre in Belleville will be moving from the centre of town out to the west end soon.
For years, those seeking shelter from the cold winter weather could stay warm at the old police station on Dundas Street East.
However, that building is being decommissioned and is no longer useable.
Wednesday, Hastings County’s Community and Human Services Committee learned that the warming centre will be located in the grandstand building beside the Quinte Curling Club at the old fairgrounds.
It will open December 1 in the former lounge for this winter only.
Next winter, the warming centre will move to The Bridge integrated services hub now under construction on Alhambra Square off Station Street.
