The Township of Tyendinaga is no different than most municipalities in our part of the province when it comes to the cost for policing.
A report earlier this month indicates that the service provided by Lennox and Addington OPP is going up in a big way.
Records show that the price for policing in 2025 is going up 22.74 per cent over 2024. It is expected to cost the municipality $657,374.
A small bit of good news for the municipality is that the pricing is based on properties, and since the municipality grew, it means the jump will be 14.54 per cent per property. It will go from $304.22 to $348.47.
The main jump comes in salaries and benefits, following the acceptance of the 2023-26 OPPA Uniform/Civilian Agreements.
So what does that mean in the overall taxes? Just the policing portion of the operational budget in Tyendinaga Township, sees a jump of 3.38 per cent.
