Officials say Saturday was a rock solid good time for Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Hastings.
The organization’s first annual Rock Solid curling bonspiel raised almost $7,000 for its build fund which helps fund the construction of affordable homes.
Six teams competed in the inaugural event with several newcomers who were treated to “learn to curl” lessons before the games began.
The title Ssponsors, Alexander Wilson Architecture, also took the Closest to the Button prize with Andy, the owner of the firm, hitting a rock within .225 metres of the centre. Top prize went to the Ripley Rink team, led by Dave Kimball.
Hazzem Koudsi, CEO of Habitat PEH commented, “While the first annual Rock Solid Bonspiel is now finished, we have lots of opportunities for the community to continue supporting Habitat PEH throughout the year, including an upcoming fundraising campaign in the next few weeks and our second annual Raise the Roof afterwork event in February. And, of course, those wishing to donate or sign up for newsletter updates can always visit www.habitatpeh.org at any time.”
