The Belleville Census Metropolitan Area has the lowest unemployment rate of any city in Canada.
Statistics Canada reports the rate for the Belleville CMA which includes Belleville, Quinte West, Deseronto-Tyendinaga and Stirling-Rawdon, fell to 3.2 per cent in October, down from September’s 3.6 per cent.
The next lowest city nationally, according to Stat Can, is Victoria which was had an unemployment rate of 3.7 per cent last month.
Belleville’s rate is also much lower than other cities in the region.
Kingston’s unemployment rate was 5.8 per cent last month, down from September’s 6.5 per cent.
In Peterborough, the unemployment rate dipped slightly in October, dropping to 4.5 per cent from 4.7 per cent in September.
The national unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.5 per cent in October as the economy added 15,000 jobs.
Ontario’s unemployment rate was 6.8 per cent last month, down one-tenth from September.
