Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis and Councillor Chris Malette are making a special trip to the city’s twin city in Germany.
They have been invited to Lahr to attend special ceremonies marking the 30th anniversary of the closing of the former Canadian Air Force Base there.
It includes a ceremony Sunday and a Remembrance Day Ceremony on Monday which will include veterans from Canadian, German and American Armed Forces.
Ellis and Malette, who leave on Friday, will be paying for their own flights to Lahr.
The City of Belleville has enjoyed a twin city relationship with Lahr since 1972.
Even after the withdrawal of Canadian forces from Lahr at the beginning of the 1990s the two cities have kept the tradition of friendship flights alive, with trips arranged every two years in rotation.
Around 4,000 people from Lahr have now visited Belleville.
