Three Tweed area residents face serious charges after alleged thefts from a Belleville business which led to collisions with police cruisers and a physical altercation Saturday night.
City police responded to a north end business on a shoplifting call around 10:30 p.m. only to find suspects taking off from the parking lot in a truck.
Police tried to box the truck in on Mineral Road. The driver tried ramming through the cruisers but it was eventually stopped.
During the arrest the driver fought with police and one officer suffered a minor injury.
The driver, 28-year-old Devon Dunkley of Marlbank, was charged with five counts of assaulting police, assault with the intent to resist arrest, theft, and other charges.
Tow others, 28-year-old Rachel Nathella Star Sweet and 33-year-old Matthew French, also of Marlbank, were charged with theft under $5,000.
Three cruisers were damaged during the incident.
