More than 100 people were assisted at Thursday’s Identification and Employment Clinic at Bridge Street United Church Drop-In Centre, hosted by the Centre for Workforce Development.
In all, 108 vulnerable and unhoused clients received 180 identification and employment services.
This is in addition to 93 people who were assisted at a similar clinic earlier this year.
Sandi Ramsay, Executive Director of CFWD says the success of these clinics demonstrates that there is a significant need for initiatives like this.
She says, “Ensuring that our most vulnerable residents have access to identification and employment resources is critical—not only for personal stability but also for fostering an inclusive and productive workforce in our region. We are deeply grateful to all who made this event possible.”
A $4,500 grant from the City of Belleville’s Community Impact Fund made it possible to cover the costs associated with obtaining essential documents, including birth certificates and Ontario photo ID cards.
The grant also helped provide wellness bags to clinic attendees, filled with healthy foods and essential hygiene items to support their overall well-being.
