The Wellington Dukes edged the Stouffville Spirit 5-4 in double overtime on Friday night.
Ryan Schaap, Zachary Carrier, Zachary Carrier, and Cory Jewitt scored for the Dukes.
Both teams grabbed a goal in the first period taking a dead heat into the second, where the Dukes grabbed two unanswered goals to take the lead. In the third, the Spirit took three goals and nearly held onto their lead until the end, before the Dukes scored with less than a minute on the clock and took the game to overtime. After a first overtime period with no scoring, the Dukes found the back of the net in double overtime, winning the game.
The Dukes are back in action on Sunday afternoon, travelling to face the St. Michael’s Buzzers.
