Belleville police are warning users of small covered electric wheelchairs that it’s dangerous to overcrowd them.
Recently an officer on patrol spotted such a vehicle on the road, stopped it and found there were five people inside, one adult, two teens, and two small children.
Such vehicles do not meet safety standards for carrying multiple persons and a collision on a roadway could have very serious consequences.
They are designed for one person and should be operated on sidewalks, not roads.
