The Syracuse Crunch slipped past the Belleville Senators 2-1 in a shootout on Saturday night.
Jan Jeník scored for the Senators.
The Belleville Senators opened scoring late in the first period, before the Crunch came back and tied the score in the second. Neither team could find the back of the net through the rest of regular play, or overtime, leading to a shootout.
The Crunch took the one and only goal in the shootout, and the win.
Belleville Senators Head Coach Dave Bell said the team did well playing a tough game.
“I thought our goaltending and our defence played outstanding,” said Coach Bell. “I thought that was the best our defence played. They played hard. They knew it was going to be a hard game for them and they were up to the challenge.”
The Senators are back in action next Saturday for their home opener.
