Belleville police responded to 89 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on October 3, 2024 to 5 a.m. on October 4, 2024.
Motor Vehicle Collision
On October 3, 2024 at 2:41 p.m., Belleville police attended the intersection of Moira Street West and Sidney Street regarding a two-vehicle collision. Minor damage was sustained to both vehicles and there were no reported injuries. During the investigation it was determined that one of the vehicles had no valid insurance. As a result of the investigation, the 31-year-old driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle with no insurance and careless driving. The driver was issued a summons with a November traffic court date.
Arrest on outstanding warrant leads to additional charges
On October 3, 2024, members of Project Renewal observed a male known to them who had an outstanding arrest warrant from the Kawartha Lakes Police Service. Officers arrested 36-year-old Michael Cornwall-Goddard of no fixed address on the strength of the warrant. During the arrest, officers located the following in Cornwall-Goddard’s possession:
- 0.4 grams Cocaine
- 18.8 grams Crystal Methamphetamine
- 8.9 grams MDMA
- $20 Canadian Currency
- 2 cell phones
As a result, he was charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – MDMA
- Proceeds of crime under $5000
- Breach of Probation
He was held in custody for a bail hearing on the new charges.
