Traffic on Highway 401 in the Brighton area was a mess Friday morning due to multiple collisions.
All westbound lanes between Brighton and Colborne were closed around 9 a.m. after a collision involving a tractor trailer.
Westbound traffic was backed up to Trenton for a time but the scene is now clear.
There was also a vehicle in the ditch in the eastbound lanes that briefly closed one lane.
The traffic troubles began late Thursday night when a tractor trailer caught fire west of County Road 30.

Flames spread into the adjacent wooded area, forcing emergency responders to close the westbound lanes with one lane opened up in time for the morning commute before being shut down again due to this morning’s crash.
There are no details about possible injuries however unconfirmed reports suggest an emergency services worker was struck by a vehicle while on scene this morning.
