Very soon it will be time to roll up your sleeves for vaccinations against COVID-19, influenza, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus or RSV.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health’s Board of Directors heard Wednesday that the first shipment of the influenza vaccine arrived Friday and has been distributed to long-term care (LTC) and retirement homes.
More shipments will be coming.
Meantime, new COVID-19 vaccines are expected to arrive very soon and will be distributed to LTC facilities, family doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, and elsewhere.
And the RSV vaccine will be available to pregnant women, babies, and seniors. While similar to common cold viruses, RSV sends more babies and seniors to hospital for treatment.
All three vaccines will be available at public health clinics starting in early November and running until later in December.
It is safe to receive all three vaccines in the same appointment.
