Northumberland OPP have arrested and charged an 18-year-old as part of a sexual assault investigation.
Police were notified on Tuesday of an assault that had occurred in Hamilton township. The incident occured over a course of five years.
As a result of an investigation, a suspect was arrested on Thursday. The suspect is not being named both to protect the identity of the victim, and because the charges relate to events that took place while the suspect was 17 years old or younger.
The 18-year-old from Hamilton Township was charged with sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age, sexual interference, posession of child pornography, and assault, as well as makes, prints, or publishes child pornography.
The accused was held for a bail hearing, and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
