The United Way Hastings Prince Edward has announced their 2024 fundraising campaign goal, during a fundraiser event at the Belleville Dairy Queen.
The United Way is attempting to raise $2.25 million dollars in the current campaign.
Taylor Russett, the campaign chair, said the proceeds will go to a wide array of programs, funding everything from snacks in schools for kids to meals on wheels for seniors.
“I’m very optimistic,” said Russett. “The need is higher and higher every year. We’re seeing issues like homelessness. We’re seeing issues like kids not having the supplies necessary to go back to school. The need is great, and that’s why we think increasing our goal to $2.25 million is needed for our community.”
Festivities are ongoing at the Dairy Queen, with $2 from every blizzard sold today going to the United Way.
