The reopening of its retail store was not the only big news to come from Reid’s Dairy this month.
The local dairy company announced it had raised over $32,000 for the Belleville General Hospital Foundation to help them support Quinte Health in their bed replacement program.
“These beds range from $100,000 down to $16,000,” executive director at the Belleville General Hospital Foundation, Steve Cook, says in a release.
“They really play a role in every department throughout the hospital, whether that’s the maternal child program through to intensive care.”
Stephen Quickert, president and owner of Reid’s Dairy, says supporting the campaign is a tangible way for people to support local residents and their health care.
He says the community has given his family so much and he wants to ensure they returned the favour.
“The hospital here in Belleville and all of our hospitals in this entire area, play a huge role in everybody’s lives,” Quickert said in the release.
“There’s not a person that doesn’t have a story and I mean a great story of the people, especially at the hospital. Us as corporate citizens here in Belleville, to do our part, need to cover the cost of this equipment.”
He urged other local philanthropists and business leaders to take part in supporting the foundation.
“Reid’s Dairy, we’re a small piece of the industrial pie here in Belleville. I would suggest, come on guys, lets go. Let’s pony up, this is our hospital. It means a lot to this community and your staff.”
