A sledgehammer was apparently the weapon of choice in an assault in Belleville on Friday the 13th.
A male with a visible head wound showed up at the front desk of Belleville Police Headquarters Friday evening to report the assault.
He told police he was leaving a west end residence when he was struck in the head with a three pound sledge hammer by a man he knew.
Investigation led to the arrest of 55-year-old David Aide of Belleville on a charge of assault with a weapon.
Aide was released on an undertaking with a court date in October.
