A stymied drone drop at Millhaven Institution has resulted in charges against a Quebec man.
Correctional Service of Canada seized a package containing contraband including a knife, razor blades, suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, tobacco and cannabis that had been dropped from a drone within the institution grounds on Wednesday.
The OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit, along with Lennox and Addington County OPP, located a suspicious vehicle near the institution just before 9 p.m.
A search of the vehicle located suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, and various forms of cannabis, as well as numerous SIM cards and digital scales.
Marc-Andre Pilon, age 32 of Thurso, Quebec was arrested and charged with:
- Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
- Mischief endangering life
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
- Delivers contraband to an inmate
- Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
Police say the investigation is continuing.
