Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has announced the launch of a new mobile dental van.
In his report, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ethan Toumishey, says the initiative is in partnership with the Kingston, Frontenac, and Lennox & Addington Public Health Unit.
Mobile clinics will be offered two days a week at different rural locations in Hastings and Prince Edward counties in order increase accessibility of the OSDCP to rural adults who qualify.
Initial services will include dental hygiene with possible dentist services in the future.
The van will be operated by two staff members, one dental assistant and one dental hygienist and will initially be based at the Belleville office of HPEPH.
Healthy Smiles Ontario may also utilize the mobile van in the future or as required by the community.
The van is also expected to be used for community outreach events.
