MAINLAND, Robin …Passed away peacefully at Campbellford Memorial Hospital on Sept. 1st 2024 in his 96th year, after a brief stay. Devoted husband of Joyce Mainland (nee Haig) who passed away in August of 2008. Dear father of Earlene Layton and Ken & Marlene Mainland. Loving grandfather of Andrew & Crystal Hudson, Jessica Hudson, Mike & Nicole Layton, Katelyn Mainland, Allison & Mike LaBelle, Emily Mainland & Ryan Wilson. Great-grandfather of Kennedy, Jasper, Taylor, Sofia, Miller and Summer. He is survived by siblings Doris Rudd and Bruce Mainland, and predeceased by siblings Joyce Allman and Clarence Mainland.
Born in Pickering Ontario to the late Mary & Harold Mainland, Robin grew up in Norwood Ontario, but raised his family in Campbellford. Robin was a very talented carpenter and cabinet maker and was always willing to share his talents and skills. He loved helping people and assisted countless family, friends, and community groups with renovations and projects over his lifetime. As a lifelong member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, he could always be depended upon to lend a helping hand. Robin’s willingness to give of his time and talents will be remembered by all that knew him.
Robin enjoyed a long life and was blessed with good health until the last few years. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the many kind and compassionate PSW’s, nurses and others who supported Robin in his wish to remain in his home until the end.
Visitation will be held at Weaver – Campbellford on Tuesday Sept. 10th from 12:30 – 1:30 pm, followed by the funeral service at 1:30 pm. Interment Mt Pleasant Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation – New Building Campaign or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
