A heavy police presence southwest of Tweed Friday was related to a Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad investigation.
ROPE squad officers located a wanted individual in the Thomasburg area around 10:30 a.m.
The 33-year-old male fled on foot into the bush when officers arrived.
The OPP Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit joined the search which lasted for several hours.
Due to the increased police presence in the area, the OPP issued a social media advisory for people in the area of Robinson and Martin Roads to remain in their homes as a precaution however police say there was no public safety risk.
The male was located in the area around 1:00 p.m. and was taken into custody without further incident.
The male was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for breaching his statutory release conditions and will be returned to a federal correctional facility.
No additional charges were laid.
