Despite a recent pause on new water infrastructure construction, Prince Edward County Committee of the Whole has approved hiring a consultant to perform a Development Charge Background Study for Water and Wastewater Infrastructure.
The decision came during Thursday’s committee meeting, alongside a report on development charge reserve funds.
The report said that there was $7,565,602 in the county-wide development charge reserve fund, and only $388,681 in the Wellington specific fund. The report also noted that Wellington specific development charges hadn’t collected much revenue, as current infrastructure doesn’t have space for more growth.
The cost of the consultant is to be paid by the studies reserve fund.
Decisions by the Committee of the Whole require final approval at the next meeting of council.
