The Ontario Green Party has named its candidate in the upcoming provincial by-election in Bay of Quinte.
Lori Borthwick has been a resident of the region since 1989.
She began her career as a respiratory therapist at Belleville General Hospital where she worked for over 30 years.
The Green Party says, as a frontline healthcare worker, Borthwick has seen the gaps in Ontario’s healthcare system firsthand and is a strong believer in the Ontario Green Party’s plan to invest in public healthcare and act on the social determinants of health.
Borthwick is also dedicated to the outdoors and sits on the board of Quinte Field Naturalists.
“Lori is a community champion who has spent her career fighting for a fairer, more caring and climate-ready Ontario,” said Ontario Greens leader Mike Schreiner. “I’m excited to work with her to send a message to Doug Ford that we need a province that works for everyday people, not for wealthy insiders.”
The by-election will be held September 19.
