Prince Edward County is adding more accessible parking spaces at off-street parking lots and on-street parking areas throughout Picton, Bloomfield, and Wellington.
New spots will be added at the Mary Street lot in Picton on Tuesday and Wednesday (August 27 & 28).
A portion of the Mary Street parking lot will be closed for line painting adjustments. The rest of the parking lot will remain open to vehicles.
County council recently approved 20 new accessible parking spots following a staff review of accessible parking spaces across municipally-owned parking lots and the downtown core areas.
The county’s goal is to improve accessibility and public safety, while ensuring people living with disabilities can access services, businesses, parks and open spaces with dignity.
These parking enhancements also support the pillar of a “community that cares” in the county’s strategic plan.
