The Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a head-on collision which left one person deceased.
It happened shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024, on Highway 62, north of Madoc.
Two pick-up trucks had collided head-on.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a 74-year-old man from Stirling, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A passenger in that vehicle, a 68-year-old woman, was transported to hospital by Hastings-Quinte Paramedics with serious injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 64-year-old man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while a 58-year-old woman in this vehicle suffered serious injuries.
Both were transported to hospital.
Officers with the Central Hastings Detachment continue to investigate the collision, with assistance from OPP Collision Reconstructionists and Technical Collision Investigators.
Highway 62 was closed for several hours for the on-scene portion of the investigation.
