Belleville police responded to 76 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on August 21, 2024 to 5 a.m. on August 22, 2024.
Breach of Probation
On August 21, 2024 at 6 p.m., Belleville police received a call regarding an unwanted male acting erratically while on the roof top of a building on Front Street. Police attended and removed the male from the roof without incident. During the investigation, police learned that the male was breaching a condition of his probation order. As a result, the 41-year-old male of no fixed address was arrested and charged with breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
Domestic Assault
On August 22, 2024 at 12:29 a.m., Belleville police attended a residence in the city’s west end regarding a domestic assault. Upon their arrival, police learned that the female victim had fled her residence to a place of safety prior to calling police. The subsequent police investigation led to the arrest of a 44-year-old Belleville man for assault, forcible confinement, uttering threats and choking. He was held for a bail hearing.
Mischief
On August 21, 2024 at 9:41 a.m., Belleville police received a call from a Front St. business owner regarding a mischief. Police learned that sometime overnight, unknown suspects had set fire to one of his patio umbrellas. Domestic Assault
On August 21, 2024 at 10:19 a.m., Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s east end regarding a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police spoke to the involved parties. Police learned that a female victim had been physically assaulted during the dispute. As a result of the investigation, an 86-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with assault. He was released an undertaking. The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
