A pilot project aimed at reducing the spread of invasive aquatic plants is currently underway in the City of Belleville.
The city’s Community Services Department has joined a pilot project with Quinte Conservation to promote its Clean, Drain, Dry initiative.
Under the program, a washing trailer is situated at various water access points throughout the Quinte region where users can wash any debris from their watercraft to prevent the spreading of invasive species through local waterways.
The CD3 Watercraft Cleaning Station is now located at the George Street Boat Launch until Aug. 23, after which it will be moved to another access point in the region.
The station is free for boaters/fishers to use.
Information on using the device can be found in Quinte Conservation’s instructional video.
